Our History

    Precision Pattern is founded by James and Laurette Lewis in West Allis, WI. Jim is a pioneer in making metal pattern equipment from the Detroit area.

  • 1972

    1972

    Jim passes away and his son Jim, Jr., a Journeyman Patternmaker as well as a degreed Mechanical Engineer, takes over the pattern shop while his mother runs the office.

  • 1976

    1976

    Jim, Jr. meets his customer George Forish, a foundry Process Engineer working at Allis Chalmers. Jim later works with George at General Casting in Waukesha, WI. from 1983 to 1985.

    George Forish joins Precision with the goal of expanding the business.

  • 1989

    1989

    George purchases Laurette’s share of the business and becomes Jim’s business partner.

  • 1990

    1990

    Jim and George purchase an adjacent building tripling the company's floor space.

  • 1997

    1997

    Laurette retires after 50 years at Precision.

    Matt Burdick, a Tool & Die Maker and degreed Mechanical Engineer, joins the team as an Engineer.

    Jim, Jr. retires and sells his share of the business to Matt.

    Over the span of eight years the company improves capabilities and increases capacity with millions invested in new machinery and tooling.

    Eric Ehrhardt starts at Precision as a part time intern while studying Mechanical Engineering at MSOE.

  • 2020

    2020

    George retires and sells his share of the business to Matt who becomes the sole owner of the company.

  • 2022

    Eric begins to buy into Precision and becomes Vice President.

  • 2023

    2023

    Matt purchases a new 25,000 square foot facility in Waukesha and moves the company after 75 years in the West Allis Location.
